August 25, Homework

Character Design Project:
Below are two photos, a mouse and a pencil stub. On the same sheet of paper, and on the same side of the page,  in a vertical format, you will draw the following working your way down the page in thirds.
1. A shape sketch of the pencil, use your blue pencil to design the basic shape.
2. A shape sketch of the Mouse, use your blue pencil to design the basic shape
3. Combine both of the earlier shape sketches into one image, Use your blue pencil to design the basic shape, add the red pencil for detail. No Graphite!, add black ink. No need to color your drawings.
The goal is to create a pencil mouse character. We will check them out in class. Have fun!

Below left is an example from the sketchbook
(Notice how many times I revised my design before finalizing).
The one on the right is the cleaned up one.

August 20, Homework

Nice work tonight everyone!

Weekend Drawing project

In your sketchbook, using your red pencil, draw 16 different objects that you would find in your kitchen that can be used cook with. Turn the sketchbook to a vertical direction and draw as if an invisible grid were on the paper, drawing 4 rows of 4 objects per row, for a total of 16 objects. Use a black ball point pen to add ink, do not erase.
Neat rows, and none of the objects should touch.

Here are some sample pages that show collections of things, these have been cleaned up. The rows are not neat on these, I would like you to try and do better with neat pages.

Have fun... we will
look at them on Tuesday
(Don't forget to scroll down and look at the
previous post for the reading assignment).

Day 1 Homework

In your sketchbook, on the first page, draw a picture, filling the entire page in any materials, a character that began as an Urban Legend and has now passed into popular culture. In the example below you could say the Wookie is Bigfoot.

You do not have to color the images.
Have fun!
We will look at them in class on Thursday.

Welcome

Question:
Do you know any jokes?
